Exercise is key for our mental health

July 20, 2020

There is no denying that the last four months have been really hard. We have all had our routines turned upside down. At times, we have all had to deal with added stress and anxiety.

Many people have will suffered some type of mental health problem during the coronavirus pandemic. As we move forwards to ‘the new normal’ it is really important that we look after our mental wellbeing.

Exercise can play a huge role in ensuring our mental health is kept in check. Performing exercise releases endorphins and gives people the ‘feel-good factor’. Going to the gym can help to relieve stress, reduce tiredness, heighten mood and improve sleep.

At my studio I make sure that all my clients feel part of the community and it has been great to see new friendships form over the years. As we enter the next phase of the pandemic, I feel this will be even more important. People will want to feel part of something and socialise with likeminded individuals.

Have you noticed more runners, walkers and cyclists during lockdown? It has been refreshing to see people being more active and talking about exercise being an important component to managing their physical and mental health.

I look forward to seeing and training you all. I think we have collectively learnt how important exercise is for our overall health. My fitness facility will enable you to thrive.
